The Dangers of Sitting

The recent article Don’t Just Sit There in the Montreal Gazette uses current research studies to support the theory that prolonged sitting is the cause for many chronic diseases as well as a shorter life expectancy.

Design That Moves You is working to combat sedentary lifestyle habits such as this.

“Sitting time is emerging as a strong candidate for being a cancer risk factor in its own right,” said Neville Owen of Australia’s Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute, speaking at a recent meeting of the American Institute of Cancer Research. “It seems highly likely that the longer you sit, the higher your risk.
